Friendship

Do you ever feel like someone you consider a really good friend isn't that good after all? Here's the thing.....I have some friends that no matter what, I can count on them. They would bend over backwards to help me out, or visit me, or do me a favor. And then there are the people who only want to be your friend when there is something in it for them. The people who only wants to be your friend when it's convenient. The people who are too worried about their own bullshit to care about the people they call friends. Unfortunately, I've found out the truth about several people.

I feel better. I vented.

It spreads!!!!

Why is it, that the most unattractive ailments (think: pinkeye!) have to spread and get worse before they get better. I now have it in my right eye too. Yay! Feel my joy.

All of it just in time for me to meet someone I haven't seen in 5 or 6 years for coffee. You see, I managed to get back in touch with an old friend from college, after not seeing him since I was a junior, and I'm supposed to meet him for coffee in about 2 hours. I've been on the stupid drops for 2 days now, so I should no longer be contagious, but the bloodshot, icky oozy, puffiness can not possibly be found attractive. I guess I'm exaggerating....it's not all that bad, but still ugly. What if he thinks I'm some sort of deseased leper or something?!?!?! Here I am, trying to reclaim a bit of my past, and I'm completely sure I'm not going to make a very good impression. Ugh.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to Chris today! (Even though I'm 99.9% sure he doesn't read my blog. Happy Birthday anyway. Everyone have a good rest of the weekend.

I like pink, but not THAT much!

Yay. Yesterday, my left eye was kinda bloodshot and itchy, so I figured it was a combination of allergies and not getting enough sleep. Unfortunately I was dead wrong. When I woke up this morning, my eye was glued shut with some pretty nasty crud. So I called my eye surgeon, because he's the only one I really trust with my eyes, and they said he'd squeeze me in between surgeries at 3:30. Yay. So one of my co-workers that I just lay low and take a half day off at noon. (I really think she just didn't want to be around my ooziness.) So I went shopping at the mall for a while to kill time. (Don't tell my hubby.) Turns out....it's pink eye!!!!! (Conjunctivitis for you sciencey people.) Ick. Drops. Oozing. Itching. Yuck. Man I'm pissed.

I'm such a slacker

Sorry! I know I've been an incredible slacker this past week, but I either have nothing to talk about, or I'm so busy that I don't have time to write.

Let's see....last week as a whole was uneventful. Friday started my fun. Friday night I went over to the family's house where my son is staying while my husband teaches summer camp. They invited Brandon and I to their neighborhood pool. So we suited up and went swimming for the afternoon. At first, Brandon was really scared of the water, but he quickly warmed up to it and was soon having a great time splashing around and playing with the other kids. I'm hoping by the end of the summer he'll be pretty comfortable in the water, so I won't have to worry so much about him playing in it.

Saturday morning I did my normal grocery shopping routine, and then fenced epee in our home tournament in the afternoon. I wasn't feeling all that well, so I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when I went 6 and 1 in my pool. I ended up being the #1 seed going into the DE's. Unfortunately, I really wasn't feeling well by the time I got to that point, and I lost my first DE to finish 5th. Oh well, at least I fenced well in the pools.

Saturday evening, I met Tom and Lisa for dinner (The Dish, yum!), and then we went bowling. I haven't been bowling in about 8 years, so I knew I'd do horribly. It was pretty fun though, and I actually bowled fairly well in the 2nd and third games. At 11 PM, they turned out the lights, and we did "extreme bowling". That was pretty cool.

Sunday, we had the saber tournament at the school. As sore as I was from the day before, I decided to fence in the women's event. There were seven of us, and I continued my women's saber winning streak by winning it. Yay! I had tons of fun with all the girls though.

Yesterday, I could barely move. It was worth it. :)

Tonight is Mary Kat beauty night at my house. One of the fencing mom's is a Mary Kay consultant, so she roped me into having a skin care class. I'm not complaining though. A free facial is definitely my idea of fun. Should be about 5 to 7 girls, giggling about girl stuff and the men in our lives. Maybe I'll take an "after beauty" photo to post here. ;)

I guess that's all for now. Leave comments so I feel loved!

Update your blog Thomas!

I think I got my groove back...

This weekend was pretty darn busy, but lots of fun too. I guess I'll start with Friday.

Friday after work, I went to pick up my son at the fencing school, and ran into one of the fencer's mom's. She was about to take her younger children to the playground, and invited us to tag along. That was a lot of fun for me, because most of my close girlfriends don't have kids. I don't get to talk to other people on the "mommy level" very often. On top of that, her children are so sweet and well behaved, that they are always a pleasure to be with. So that was lots of fun.

Saturday started out fairly uneventful. Did my normal grocery shopping, errands, and hanging out with my boy (the potty king ;)). Saturday night I had dinner with Lisa and Thomas at Moe's. Good food, you should really try it. After that, we had to have the miniature golf rematch from last summer. Lisa hustled us again. Big surprise there. >:(

On Sunday, I got up at the ass crack of dawn to drive to Myrtle Beach for a fencing tournament. At first, I didn't even really want to go, and if I went I wasn't really planning on fencing saber, since I haven't picked one up in 6-8 months. But anyway, I didn't want to be bored all day, so I went ahead and signed up for the women's saber event. Just before the men's event was scheduled to start, the tournament organizer asked all the women if we'd like to participate in the men's event in order to get enough people for a rated tournament. Four of us decided to take her up on the offer, and we pretended to be men for the first event of the day. I fenced fairly well, and went into the direct elimination round seeded 10th. I got a bye into the round of 16, and then had to fence the #7 seed. Fighting for every single point, I beat the guy 15-14. That was great, because that made me the only woman to make it to the round of 8, but the down side was that I then had to fence my husband. >:( I fenced very well, but lost 15-9. It was a decent bout though.

After that was over, we started the women's event. I went 4 and 1 in my pool and ended up seeded 2nd overall. Pretty good. I got another bye in the first round, then won my first DE against a really nice girl, who was just terrified of me. She's one of those people ho really loves fencing, not just for the sport of it, but for the people you meet, and the relationships you form. Great girl, and a true sportswoman. After that, I had to fence for the gold medal against the exact opposite girl. One of those people who loves winning more than fencing. She's not at all fun to fence, and not at all friendly, especially if she loses. So my squad leader, Michael, talked to me for a while about how to handle her and what to do. (I had already beat her in the pool round, so I felt like I was at an advantage to begin with.) Michael's wisdom worked, because I beat her 15-9, and brought home the women's title. (Michael had already won't the men's event, so we were a pretty happy team.) Yay! I'm paying for it all with incredibly sore mucles and a jammed thumb today though. I think it was worth it. ;)

Anyway, that was a recap of my weekend. I'm thinking that I need to rename my blog, so any suggestions would be much appreciated! Peace and love......Me

Mmmmmm......sushi

Ok....so I don't even eat sushi, but we went out for lunch at work today. (It's kind of a Wednesday tradition.) Anyway, we went to this place called "Sushi 101". It was awesome! I had some kind of bowl thing with veggies and noodle and some yummy katsu fried tofu. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm. I brought half of it back to the office with me since it was a massive portion, but I'm sure it will make good dinner tomorrow night or something. But boy was it good! I'm so full right now, that I'd like nothing better than a really long nap. I doubt my office would appreciate that.

The President of my new company, who only comes into the office about twice a month, brought his doggie into work with him today. It's an adorable little three month old black lab puppy named Charlie. He's been taking turns sleeping at our feet and licking our toes all day. To quote Bill: "What a difference a dog makes!"

I made some really yummy chicken lasagna last night for dinner. (Thank you Stouffer's!) As I said, it was incredibly yummy, however, I burnt the hell out of my hand getting it out of the oven. For all of you smart asses that read my blog: Yes, I used potholders. I just apparently did not use them well. ;) So anyway, it's a good thing I have some monster aloe plants at my house because they sure did come in handy. Now it only stings a little, but it's really plastic-looking, and starting to dry out a bit. >:( Ouch.

I guess that's all for now. Have a great day everyone!

So sleepy...

So....yeah. I had a fairly uneventful weekend.

Saturday, I did my normal grocery shopping and around the house thingy. That evening, I met "The Notorious E" for dinner. It was supposed to be our once a month outting, but we haven't seen each other in almost three months. We're both so crazy busy most of the time, and slackers the rest of the time, that we don't get together nearly as often as we should. After that, I hung out with Lisa and Tom. We had some coffee, and then went to the sex toy store. I know, it sounds weird for the three of us to be going there, but we always have so much fun. People phisically leave when we come in because we're fairly load and obnoxious. Things like "Oh my god, look at the size of that butt plug!!!!" can always be heard from our group. Everyone there just wants to shop in peace. I was particularly looking for something to add to my sister's edible penis collection for her upcoming birthday, but the only possibilities I found were the gummy sperm and the "lollicock". Definite possibilities, but nothing I thought she couldn't live without. It was also great to see the looks I was given when I answered the obligatory, "Can I help you find anything?", with, "Yes, I'm looking for edible penises." :) Anyway, it was a good time.

Sunday was the grand opening of the new Gastonia school/store. Yay. It was nice and all, but really, I was bored. I did get to see my girlfriend Meg though. She's married to my husband's business partner, and she works funky hours, so I don't get to hang out with her nearly as often as I'd like to. We get along very well, and I think there is no one else in the world that understands my husband situation like her, because she's in the same proverbial boat. We have the same gripes about our marriages, so we keep threatening (jokingly), that we're going to take Brandon and run away to my mom's house in Florida. The beach, the pool, the free babysitting......who can beat it?

So anyway, it's back to the grind at work today, and for some reason, I've been having lot's of trouble staying awake. I'm sure the fact that I'm not very busy is probably part of it, but still. Tonight is "girl's night in." It's just me and Cassie (the great dane), because the boys fence in the far off land of Morganton until late. Girl Power! (Well one of us is spayed, but she still counts. :))

wooohoooo!

So I had an incredibly unexpected dat off today. We've had some major rain here the past couple of days, and the flooding has been pretty plentiful. So I practically swam to work this morning, getting there about ten minutes late instead of my normal 15 minutes early, and I walk into the building, only to discover that the power is out. Now I work in a pretty large, multiple company office building, so I was pretty surprised that Duke Power wasn't on top of it. The area has a bunch of office buildings and a bunch of aprtment complexes, but alas, no power. So my boss sent me home, and told me that if it came back on, she'd call me back in later. Knowing Duke, I had a feeling I would be getting the day off. Yay! So I fought my way back up river to my house, played with my son for a while, and had lunch with a friend. Then I went to work out. All in all, a pretty good day. :)
